JURY:
Answer the following questions on page 43 of the notebook: Each answer should be between 1 and 2 paragraphs.
1. Based on what you have read, researched and discussed, what are some of the worst things that people claim that Columbus did? Explain.
2. Based on what you have read, researched and discussed, what are some of the best arguments used to defend Columbus, Columbus Day and his legacy? Explain.
3. Once Columbus arrived in Hispaniola (present-day Dominican Republic and Haiti) and he forced the Tainos (local natives) to find gold or else, do you think he had a choice or do you think he was doing what the king and queen of Spain wanted? Explain.
4. Would the above question be irrelevant if you were told that he took three (3) additional trips? Why or why not?
5. Based on what you have read, researched and discussed, how would you describe Columbus' character? Explain.
PROSECUTION/DEFENSE:
You have the entire class and then to 9PM to finish your Mock Trial Package (please read the guidelines and the rubric carefully-it is an exam grade).
ALL STUDENTS:
1. Notebook checks will end at page 41 for Prosecution & Defense, but page 43 fo Jury.
2. Students who dress up for a formal presentation on Wednesday and Thursday will receive a 20/20 in an extra-credit Do Now Quiz (if you don't, it will not affect your grade)
3. ROTC students: Wearing your ROTC uniform on Thursday counts as dressing up formally.
