Tuesday's Homework: 9/13/16

Read HO#6 The Case Against the War in Iraq by Howard Zinn and answer the following questions: on page 4 of the notebook:


  1. Why could it be argued that the U.S. invasion of Iraq violated Article I, Section 4 of the United Nations Charter? Explain and use evidence.
  2. What were some of the wrongdoings that Iraq had committed prior to the U.S. Invasion inside its borders and on foreign nations?  Explain and use evidence.
  3. Why does Zinn argue that these wrongdoings could not justify the U.S. invasion? Explain and use evidence.
  4. What is the “clear and present danger” argument? Explain and use evidence.
  5. Why does Zinn believe that Secretary of State Colin Powell was being hypocritical?  Explain and use evidence.
  6. Why does Zinn believe that the motive for war was “not stopping terrorism but expanding US power and controlling Mideast oil”? Explain and use evidence.
