Dear Parents, Families and Students,

We are raising funds to continue to pay for a computer science teacher to teach 30 Haitian-Dominican and Haitian immigrants/refugees, since they are not allowed to go to public schools. This is clearly a controversial issue in the Dominican Republic (given the amount of hateful and critical messages that I get from our Youtube Video).

I will be passing a list for a bake sale tomorrow (TUESDAY) to help Haitian-Dominican children and Haitian Refugees that live in the Dominican Republic (Ms. Martinez, Ms. Ryan and I began helping these folks last year). There are 4 ways to help (extra-credit will be given):

1. Bring something to the bake sale (to my classroom on Wednesday morning)
2. Buy something at the bake sale (we will keep check)
3. Volunteer at the bake sale (after school from 1:45 to 2:45)
4. Donate funds (any amount helps)

Our goal is to raise $400 to pay for the last two months of the classes that began last year (the money not only helps the students, but it also allows the teacher, his wife and two daughters to get an income ($223 a month, about 10,000 pesos).

P.S. We might start a clothe/book drive later in the year.
