1. Read and annotate Columbus Diary Reading: On page 50 of the notebook, answer the following questions:

1. Using evidence from the reading how does Columbus describe the Tainos to the Spanish? What is his goal for doing so? Explain.
2. Using evidence from the reading, do you think that Columbus had good or bad intentions in regards to the Taino people?  Do you think that other European explorers would have acted differently?  Why or why not? Explain.

2. The Completed 6 paragraph First Draft of the Term Paper is due by Tuesday 10/20 on Turnitin.com by 11:59PM NO NAMES. NO HEADING (15 point penalty for doing so)

Honors Class:

2. The FINAL DRAFT OF THE TERM PAPER IS DUE BY FRIDAY BY 11:59PM, because I decided to give everyone feedback on the first draft (which I hope will be completed by Tuesday, but you can check the feedback by your classmates).  There will be a 25% penalty for late work instead of 20% penalty per day as a result.
