Friday's Homework: 10/31/14

9th Grade U.S. & World History Standard:

1.GET AS MUCH CANDY AS POSSIBLE!
2. Read pages 49 to 52 of the TB, on page 58 of the NB take 12 to 18 key points or use the GRAPHIC ORGANIZER.
3. NO SUMMARY/REFLECTION
4. The final Do Now Quiz of the term will take place on Monday (Thursday & Friday’s homework)!
5. WORK ON YOUR COLUMBUS MOCK TRIAL! YOUR GOOGLE DOC IS DUE BY 3PM ON MONDAY! IF YOU DO NOT DO ANY WORK OVER THE WEEKEND YOU SIMPLY WILL NOT HAVE ENOUGH TIME TO FINISH AS MONDAY IN CLASS SHOULD BE A LAST OVER VIEW OF THE PROJECT!

12th Grade We & They: 


1. Read the 3rd chapter of the HPIE BOOK “Japan: Moving In and Out of the Sun” pages 26 to 37 (only read the section that goes along the question that you want to answer).

On a separate sheet of paper, answer ONLY ONE of the following questions using evidence from the reading that goes along it (1 to 2 pages and pick the question that interests you the most AND THIS IS DUE ON MONDAY AT THE BEGINNING OF CLASS):
1. How was Japanese colonialism different and similar to those practiced by Europe and the United States?  Which one was more pervasive (from “The Empire of the Sun")?
OR:
2. How has technology helped and failed Japan in the case of “The Lessons of Fukushima Daiichi”? In your opinion can humans ever be too dependent on technology or should we continue to embrace it? Explain.
OR: 
3. Who is Abe Shinzo and why should we care? Do you think that Japan is attempting to become a military power? Should they be allowed to do so (they are still bound by the WWII surrender agreement)? Explain.  

P.S. FIRST TEAM SANTO DOMINGO 2015 BAKE SALE IS ON Thursday, November 13th!  We are shooting for $750 or more!
